Therefore, participation in sporting activities is highly valued and forms an integral part of life at the College. We recognise the unique relationship between involvement in sporting activities and the development of interpersonal skills which helps young men reach their potential.

The College has a long tradition of excellence in the Arts - from Music, to Drama, Debating and the Visual Arts.
St Edmund’s has a number of bands and choirs on offer in which musical students to participate. These include the Combined Concert Band, Big Band, Combined Choir, College Choir, String Ensemble, Drum line and Junior Choir. Some major yearly performances include the Queensland Catholic Schools and Colleges Music Festival, the College Cultural Showcase and Awards Nights, Performing Arts Nights and Ipswich Eisteddfod.
The College conducts an annual school musical production in cooperation with St Mary’s College. The musical has been a longstanding and well respected tradition for both Colleges and provides an opportunity for Music and Drama students to 'strut their stuff'. College students are involved on stage, behind the scenes and in the orchestra.
St Edmund’s College enters teams for all year levels in the Ipswich Secondary Debating Competition. Teams of four boys are mentored by staff competing with schools and Colleges across the greater region.
St Edmund's College also operates multiple Coding and Gaming Groups which compete in competitions such as eSports, Advanced Programming, Lego League, Hackathon and High School League.
